Nexus One – Undervolted at Stock Speeds = Longer Battery Life

Very interesting….

Nexus One – Undervolted at Stock Speeds

Persiansown over at the XDA forums has modified the nexus one kernel, which is based of cyanogens highmem kernel, to decrease the amount of power consumption without effecting the speed. At 998mhz, the Nexus One’s max speed, the voltage of the phone is only 1.225v compared to stock which is 1.275v. This kernel is stable but, like most modifications to phone software, some people might experience random reboots, crashes, etc. If this is the case then you will need to flash the stock kernel back onto the phone. It all comes down to lower voltage = longer battery life.

Prizefight: Nexus One vs. iPhone 3GS

Greetings, sports fans. We’re proud to present another cell phone Prizefight. This time we threw the iPhone 3GS into the ring with the new kid on the smartphone block, the Google Android-equipped Nexus One from HTC.

It goes without saying that each of these handsets packs a powerful punch. The iPhone excels at multimedia and is compatible with thousands of apps, but the Nexus One counters with a fast processor and multitasking. And just this week the Nexus One gained multitouch support in a software update.

We promise you: this is an epic battle. So, to see it for yourself, check out the video and the full Prizefight.

Android Nexus One Already Rootable #p2 #android

The phone isn’t available yet (tomorrow?) but the instructions for rooting it are. :-)

So we rooted the Nexus One. Before it was out. Without a device. Neat
Retail devices DO have locked bootloaders.

But you can unlock them.
You see, in the bootloader of the Nexus One there is a secret command. A command that, when issued via fastboot, gives you the warning you see here, after which you can merrily unlock your bootloader and flash anything you want onto your device (including our superboot rooting image).
Nice eh?
It’s easy too! Google WANTS you to be able to do whatever you please on your Nexus One, but they also want you to be aware of the consequences.

To unlock your Nexus One’s bootloader simply…

- Download and extract fastboot from here (Windows, Linux and Mac included)
- Run a command prompt / terminal at the directory you just extracted
- Type ‘fastboot-windows oem unlock’ or ‘./fastboot-mac oem unlock’ or ‘./fastboot-linux oem unlock’ (as appropriate)
- Proceed on your merry bootloader unlocked wayRead more at android.modaco.com
